Greetings Friends,
When Governor Larry Hogan announced his plan to lift the stay-at-home order on Friday,
May 15 in Maryland, he continued by saying local leaders have the ability to determine whether that is appropriate for their jurisdictions. Our County Executive, Dr. Calvin Ball provided his own modified plan (see below) for Howard County.
On Wednesday, May 13, the Maryland House of Delegates Economic Matters Committee held a virtual hearing on unemployment issues in the state. Maryland Secretary of Labor Tiffany Robinson was in attendance to provide information and data to the committee, as well as address questions and concerns. A video of the meeting is available here.
The Howard County Office of Workforce Development is available to help connect residents to employers and jobs available in Howard County through its new portal.
Since my last newsletter, Governor Hogan has vetoed a large group of bills passed during the 2020 legislative session. In January, your representatives will have an opportunity to respond to these vetoes, so do let me know your thoughts over the interim. You can see a list of the vetoed bills in Governor Hogan's veto letters.
